Every year, Chanel’s grand Cruise collections are inspired by a different locale, which also hosts an enormous crew of fashion luminaries for the collection’s runway show. This year, creative director Karl Lagerfeld got particularly ambitious: he pinned the collection to Cuba, which had only months prior announced it would open itself more to the world than it had in decades. Lagerfeld knows a press opportunity when he sees it, even if Cuba’s high poverty levels and history of oppression were a difficult backdrop for an extremely high-end fashion show.
Cuba does have aesthetic beauty in spades, though, and the country’s vibrant palette looks beautiful on Chanel’s wide range of Cruise 2017 bags, which have just arrived in the brand’s boutiques. The rainbow-dyed Boy Bags are an immediate standout, just as they were on the runway earlier this year, but the collection includes dozens of beautiful bags for shoppers you want something a little lighter and less formal from the staid French house. Check out all the bags from the collection’s new lookbook, as well as their prices, below.

This past year, a friend who works for a different business site contacted me about where one could really find a black Chanel flap bag to buy in New York City. This buddy works in the business and knew where to call to ask about the bags, but the proverbial cupboards were bare. When Megs purchased her Reissue 2.55, she had to create more than one stop to locate it. Still another friend in the sector ended up purchasing a gorgeous teal Classic Flap when shameful, which was what she believed she wanted, wasn’t in stock. Even though the struggles to acquire a Chanel bag are not as legendary as those chronicled by Hermes clients, it’s still fairly difficult to put your hands on exactly the Chanel flap bag you’re searching for, and for a lot of consumers, that makes the search more rewarding. Not trying to pay whole price? We don’t blame you. Because Chanel bags have existed in a few of the same models they’re currently for literally decades, it’s not that hard to discover a pre-owned variation in good shape for a more reasonable cost, as long as the bag isn’t from the past couple of years or a limited edition. There is probably a luxury consignment store in your region with a few options, as well as internet specialists like Heritage Auctions and What Goes Around Comes Around at ShopBop.It’s easy to get cynical about fashion, especially when it’s a market that you practically reside in, but there is just something about Chanel that feels special no matter what. Even when I do not like a particular layout or set, the organization’s aura is simply about as intoxicating as advertising can get. I don’t understand exactly why, because Karl Lagerfeld often lulled into ridiculousness, but then again, maybe that’s exactly it. Chanel is often fantastical, and there is still value in that when it comes to luxury.
